The details
Who it’s for
Get tested after sex without a condom, a new or several partners, shared drug equipment, a non-sterile tattoo or piercing, if you want to stop using condoms with a steady partner, or if you are pregnant or want to be. Many infections have no symptoms.
How often
A sexual health check with a professional at least once a year, and a test after any risk.
Cost
Free with a Quebec health card. Some sites charge a small fee (usually $5 or $15) to send samples to the lab. From age 14 you can get tested without a parent’s permission.
