Urgent, but I can get there myself
A likely fracture, a cut that needs stitches, a high fever in a baby, severe pain.
Minor illness or a prescription
UTI, shingles, pink eye, or just a renewal: a pharmacist can often prescribe and treat it on the spot, no appointment needed.
No family doctor, need to see someone
A non-urgent health problem, and no doctor or NP of your own: the GAP gets you an appointment, often within a matter of days.
I have a family doctor
Book directly online, with your doctor or someone else in their group (GMF), through Rendez-vous santé Québec.
Vaccine, screening or blood test
Vaccination, STI screening, a blood draw: all of it books online, through Clic Santé.
Mental health
Feeling distressed, anxious, or having dark thoughts: Info-Social offers immediate psychosocial support, 24/7. In a suicidal crisis, call 1-866-APPELLE or visit suicide.ca.
I’m waiting for surgery
Every surgeon keeps their own list, and the wait varies a lot by region and specialty. There are ways to wait less.
I want a permanent family doctor
Register on the official waitlist, the GAMF. The wait runs months, sometimes years. In the meantime, the GAP is your way in.
The iPhone app
The site already does the real-time numbers, the map and the which-ER-to-drive-to part.
It opens from an icon, no address to type. And whatever you loaded last is still there when the signal drops, which it does in most hospital basements.
The app is free to download and everything inside it is free too: the wait times, the clinics, the surgery lists, one ER's last seven days with the hours it is usually quietest, and your own ERs pinned to the top of the list. No subscription, nothing left to unlock.
On the App Store it is called "Urgences Québec: temps attente".
No Android version yet. In the meantime your browser’s ⋮ menu has “Add to Home screen”: the site comes back from an icon, with no address to type.
